Backpack and Snorkel Purple Travel GuideLocated just 2.5 miles (4 km) from the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An Ancient Town, An Bang Beach is one of Vietnam’s most beautiful and relaxed beaches. With its soft golden sand, swaying casuarina trees, and gentle waves, An Bang offers the perfect blend of natural beauty and laid-back atmosphere. Whether you are looking to swim, sunbathe, sip a cocktail, or dine with your toes in the sand, this beach is a good option to escape the heat.
An Bang Beach has managed to retain a low-key vibe despite growing popularity in recent years. Unlike the more developed Cua Dai Beach, which has suffered from erosion, An Bang continues to offer wide stretches of soft sand and relatively uncrowded shores, if you walk just 650ft (200 m) to the right or left of the touristy main entrance.
This makes An Bang ideal for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. You will find a mix of local Vietnamese families enjoying weekend picnics, expats walking their dogs, and tourists reclining under umbrellas with a cold coconut in hand.
An Bang Beach is easily accessible from Hoi An. Most visitors rent a bicycle or motorbike, take a short 15-minute Grab or taxi ride, or hop on the free electric shuttle service that connects many hotels and resorts in the area with the beach. If you stay at Bel Marina Hoi An Resort, you are in luck, as this hotel is serviced by the shuttle. The ride winds through scenic rice paddies and quiet villages, making the journey part of the experience.

The beauty of An Bang lies in its unhurried pace, but there is still plenty to keep you entertained.
Swimming & Sunbathing: The beach offers gentle waves, clean water, and a calm seabed, perfect for casual swimming. Many local vendors rent beach chairs and umbrellas for a small fee or free with a food purchase.
Yoga & Wellness: Several beachfront establishments offer yoga classes, massage huts, and wellness retreats, perfect for travelers looking to relax both body and mind.
Beachfront Dining: An Bang is home to a range of beach bars, seafood grills, and international restaurants.
Water Sports: While not a major hub for surfing, An Bang occasionally offers small waves for beginners. You can also rent kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, or join boat tours along the coast.
Bring sunscreen and a hat as there is little natural shade, but you can rent beach umbrellas.
Cash is useful for local eateries or vendors who don’t accept cards.
Most restaurants provide showers and restrooms for customers.
