Nepal in 9 Days: A Perfect Itinerary for Culture, History & Beauty - Nepal Purple Travel Guide

The following itinerary is for an 9-day sightseeing trip in Nepal, which includes Kathmandu, Pokhara, Bandipur, and Gorkha Durbar.
As this is a sightseeing itinerary, it does not include any trekking.

You can use this itinerary as it is or modify it to fit your interests and travel style.

The itinerary can be shortened by flying between Kathmandu and Pokhara and cutting Bandipur and Gorkha Durbar out.
It can be extended by adding Chitwan National Park, and Lumbini. Both are not part of this Nepal Purple Travel Guide.
Lumbini (more information) is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha), and also home to many Buddhist temples and monasteries from nations around the globe.
Chitwan National Park (more information) is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including the endangered one-horned rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger which one can see, if lucky, on guided jungle safaris.

Should you visit over Tihar, then our proposal is to time your self-guided Thamel tour to coincide with the 3rd day of Tihar (called: The Day of the Cows (Gai Tihar) or Laxmi Puja). On that day, you will see kids go from house-to-house and sing for a little money – this is a bit like Nepali Halloween, but without scary costumes and candy.
