The name ‘Bishokarma’ is the Nepali pronunciation of Vishwakarma, a revered figure in Hindu mythology known as the god of creation, craftsmanship, and engineering. Vishwakarma is said to have constructed the palaces of gods, divine weapons, and even entire cities in the celestial realm. His name combines the Sanskrit words ‘Vishwa’ (universe) and ‘Karma’ (maker), symbolizing ‘maker of the universe’.
Bishokarma Temple serves as a spiritual hub for artisans, metalworkers, blacksmiths, and craftsmen who worship the deity as their patron. Every year during Bishwakarma Puja, usually held in September, the temple becomes a vibrant center of activity. Devotees bring tools, vehicles, and machines to be blessed, seeking divine protection and success in their work.
