The Heli Lounge Bar is a unique, exclusive rooftop destination that offers a thrilling leisure experience: drinks served on an active, operational helicopter landing pad. Situated atop the 34-story Menara KH building in the heart of the Bukit Bintang district, this venue provides one of the most spectacular and uninterrupted 360-degree views of the city skyline. It is a rare example of urban adaptive reuse, where a functional aeronautical space transforms into a social hub at dusk.

Why You Should Visit

This is the ultimate destination for capturing the modern spectacle of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. It offers views that directly contrast with the Petronas Towers and the KL Tower, placing you at a perfect mid-level height to appreciate their scale. As a self-guided experience, it is highly rewarding for those seeking a sophisticated atmosphere and unique photo opportunities. Because there are no walls, glass panels, or windows, you are treated to a literal unobstructed viewing platform that makes you feel as if you are floating above the city.

What is Special About It?

  • The Living Helipad: The bar remains an operational helipad until 6:00 PM each day. After this time, the safety equipment is removed, and the concrete pad is transformed with minimalist furniture.
  • The Edge Experience: There are no traditional railings around the perimeter of the pad—only a simple rope and a yellow safety line. This creates a truly dramatic, vertigo-inducing atmosphere. You should follow the instructions of the staff, who ensure that everyone maintains a safe distance from the edge.
  • The Sunset Ritual: Arriving at opening allows you to witness the ‘blue hour’, as the sun sets behind the skyscrapers and the Petronas Twin Towers begin their nightly illumination. The transformation of the city lights from this height is considered one of the best visual experiences in Malaysia.
  • Aviation Theme: The indoor lounge on the level below the pad features an aeronautical theme, including a DJ console constructed from a refurbished Boeing 747 turbine and cabin seats from a Boeing 737.

Architecture and Facts

  • Elevation: The helipad is situated at a height of approximately 508 feet (155 meters) above the ground. While it is not as high as the KL Tower, its central position provides a much more intimate view of the surrounding skyscrapers.
  • Minimalist Design: The bar utilizes the raw, concrete structure of the pad to ensure the focus remains entirely on the view. The furniture consists primarily of simple, portable lounge chairs that can be cleared quickly if the space is required for its original purpose.
  • Operational Safety: The bar operates under strict meteorological rules. If there is a threat of lightning or high winds, the helipad will be closed immediately for safety, and guests will be ushered to the indoor lounge on the 34th floor.
