You will be switching cities today, so you need an early start!
Important: You should have booked a morning train, like the 8:10 AM Gatimaan Express (12050), from Hazrat Nizaduddin train station to the Agra Cantt train station weeks or months ago to ensure that tickets are still available. Find more information about booking train tickets here. The train ride will take about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Here at Backpack and Snorkel Travel Guides, we promote self-guided walking tours.
But we realize that not everybody likes to walk by themselves in a foreign city. So, just in case that you rather go with ab guide: NO PROBLEM! Please see the GuruWalk and Viator tours below.

After you arrive at the train station, your immediate challenge will be to get transportation to your hotel. As we have stated earlier, our primary advice is to take a taxi from the hundreds of drivers waiting just outside the station.
You can, of course, try to call an Uber, but be advised:
Cancellations are Common: Ride-hailing app drivers often cancel requests here. They know that finding you among the hundreds of taxi and tuk-tuk drivers can be tough, and parking spaces are scarce, often causing them to park far away.
The Hustle is Real: During the time you wait for your Uber driver, you will be approached by dozens of taxi and tuk-tuk drivers offering their services. They will bombard you non-stop, even if you walk away, and this can quickly become stressful, and some travelers eventually give in, take a taxi, and leave their Uber driver without a ride.
Use this simple bargaining tactic to get an inexpensive ride - we learned it the hard way: Once you are surrounded, tell the drivers what your destination is, and if you want a taxi or tuk-tuk. Then ask for their best price, and counteroffer a reasonable price (e.g., 50% more than the Uber/Ola quote you saw on your app for a taxi driver). Taxi drivers will typically offer about twice the Uber price. If one driver accepts your counter offer, the others will generally leave you alone as you and your driver walk to his vehicle. Tuk-tuk drivers may still bother you.
Some travel guides recommend that you visit the Taj Mahal for sunrise. That's a great choice because you will have beautiful light conditions and fewer visitors early in the morning. That said, the Taj Mahal is breathtakingly gorgeous regardless of when you go there.
If you feel you must go for sunrise, then save it for tomorrow and visit other sites today. Be advised that the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday.
After the Taj Mahal, we will spend the majority of the afternoon at Agra Fort. Afterwards, if you're not exhausted from all the walking, we will go to Taj View Point ADA for a sunset view of the Taj Mahal.

Backpack and Snorkel Purple Travel GuideWhere the Taj Mahal tells a story of love, Agra Fort tells the story of power, war, and imperial intrigue. This massive UNESCO World Heritage site is truly a walled city, established by Emperor Akbar and serving as the primary seat of the Mughal government until the capital shifted to Delhi.
Walking through its colossal red sandstone walls, you'll feel the transformation from a military stronghold to a lavish, white marble palace as you trace the architectural additions of successive emperors like Shah Jahan. The fort’s complex history culminates in the story of Shah Jahan himself, who was imprisoned here by his own son, forced to gaze at his beloved Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River from the elegant Musamman Burj tower.
Imperial Drama: Explore the Hall of Private Audience (Diwan-i-Khas) and the grand residential palaces where empires were planned and secrets were kept.
Architecture: Witness the blend of Hindu, Persian, and Islamic styles that defines early Mughal military and palace architecture.
The View: Stand in the marble chambers and find the unparalleled vantage point that provides a breathtaking, framed view of the Taj Mahal.
