Backpack and Snorkel Travel Guide for a Desert Safari Tour from Doha - Qatar Purple Travel Guide
No visit to a desert country is complete without dune bashing, camel riding and dune surfing. We provide detailed information of how you can do that from Doha, and we show lots of photos so you know what you can expect.
For us, dune bashing, camel riding and dune surfing are desert activities that you should do at least once in your life.
Since Qatar has such a long coastline, desert tours here are elevated by adding a visit to the beach.
There are multiple companies that offer such tours from Doha.
A private tour that we liked in particular is offered by Falcon Tours (book).
It is 7-8h long and includes:
- short 300 ft (100 m) camel ride
- opportunity to hold a falcon for QAR20 or US$5
- lots of dune bashing
- sand boarding
- photo stop at Sealine Beach
- opportunity to swim and relax at Rahal Camp
- opulent lunch at Rahal Camp
The above locations were used at the time of writing; it is possible that you will be brought to different locations for the same activities.
A) Doha
B) Saudi Arabia
Please see the tours below for other options.
Camel ride
Falcon encounter
Dune Bashing
Drivers that do Dune Bashing have to be licensed to ensure that this experience is safe.
Sand boarding
Sand Boarding or Dune Surfing is fun, but getting back up the hill is exhausting. We asked our driver to pick us up at the bottom and drive us back up the hill.
Sealine Beach
Rahal Camp
Changing clothes for swimming, and taking a shower after swimming is done in one of the hotel rooms.
Where do you want to go now?
